Kyle XY Marathon

Yesterday, I watched the first 12 episodes of Kyle XY through Studio 23. It started at 10:30 am and ended at 8:30 pm. Now I have some headache but I must admit that the whole episodes are worth my time. Kyle XY who is portrayed by Matt Dallas, is a teenager who woke up one day naked in the woods outside Seattle without any idea of his past life. He was soon taken by the police because of indecent exposure and brought to a juvenile correction center. Due to strange nature of his case, he was turned over to a therapist named Nicole Trager. Like an infant, Kyle doesn’t know anything but he can absorb things and sensations quickly and within days he already knew how to speak and interact with people around him. Kyle is a prodigy; he can absorb everything that he reads. He loves mathematics and he can perfectly answer the exams given to him. At first, Kyle was reluctantly accepted by the Trager family but as the days go by, they begin to accept Kyle as their own family member. Also, questions resemble in their mind about Kyle’s past as Josh Trager, the youngest member of the family and a trouble maker sees Kyle as an alien maybe because he doesn’t have a belly button. Because of his extraordinary abilities, innocence and good heart, Kyle was easily liked by people around him. His best friend is Declan McDunaugh, suitor of Lori Trager (sister of Josh Trager). Declan helps Kyle in secretly solving the mystery about his past.

The Past of Kyle XY
Kyle XY is the result of an experiment conducted by Adam Baylin and the Zyzyx company. They believe in Albert Einstein’s theory that the longer the child is in the mother’s womb, the superior his intelligence will be. Kyle XY is a complete clone of Adam Baylin since Kyle’s DNA was obtained from Adam. Kyle was left in the gestation tank for a long period of time. This gestation tank was invented by Adam Baylin because he doesn’t want to harm anyone for his experiment so instead of putting a mother’s life in danger, he invented a tank that will develop an embryo and Kyle was the product of this tank that is why he doesn’t have a navel. However, the company wanted to terminate Kyle so with the help of Adam’s friend, Tom Foss, he saved Kyle and left him unconscious in the forest outside Seattle.

Kyle XY and Heroes Similarities
Watching the series, I found many similarities between Kyle XY and Heroes: First, the company. Kyle XY and Heroes both have a company which they do not want to be exposed to the public. They will do everything to protect the company even to the point that they have to take away one’s life. Second is the symbol. The symbol for Heroes is the Helix which means God sending great abilities. On the other hand, the symbol used in Kyle XY was a circular object which I believe is the logo of the company Zyzyx. I also stumbled upon a video of one of the episodes of Kyle XY where Hillary, friend of Lori Tragger talks about Peter Petrelli.

Lessons Learned
Every episodes of Kyle XY leaves a lot of lessons to be learned. One of the lessons that left a mark is the pronouncement of Kyle, “Life is simple, and it is not complicated.” It is absolutely correct that life is in fact, a simple one. We are just making it complicated by doing things that we know we aren’t capable of or by being with people that we are not comfortable of. Living a simple life is better than living an exquisite life full of troubles and anxieties. So live your life to the fullest and enjoy even the simplest things!
